Could Your Uncommon Accident be Claimed Against

Many people believe that only certain types of accidents can warrant an accident injury claim. The more common types of injury caused by an accident that was not the fault of the victim receive more media attention and exposure. As such, it pertains that victims of unorthodox injuries may neglect to make a personal injury claim even if they are entitled to significant compensation.

Television and print media advertising concentrate on injuries caused by common incidents such as car accidents and falls at work. The reality is that the type of injury and cause do not signify the relevance of the claim. As long as the injury has negative effects upon the victims personal or professional life and the accident was not their fault, then they may be entitled to make a personal injury claim and receive any compensation that they deserve.

This is highlighted by unusual by successful claims that have been made in the past. The victims and their personal injury solicitors managed to win the compensation that they have sought. Here are a few unusual yet successful claims that have been made.

In Lancashire, a greengrocer was awarded the equivalent of £700 when he slipped over and hurt himself whilst playing blind man’s bluff. This compensation was paid out after the incident in 1878, signifying how long injury compensation claims have been useful and successful.

An unusual motor vehicle claim was made by a man who fell from the back of a lorry. The man was in the back of the lorry unloading products. Another driver got into the driver’s seat unaware that the man was in the back and the doors were open. The claimant fell out of the lorry whilst the driver was blissfully unaware.

Many slips, trips and falls occur in the workplace or in public areas and these subsequently receive more exposure. However, a woman who slipped in a puddle of gravy in a restaurant successfully claimed for compensation after injuring her back.

There are a number of examples where people were injured whilst driving a mobility scooter. Despite the restricted speed of the vehicles, they can still lead to accidents and injuries. One elderly gentleman was injured when his mobility scooter spontaneously combusted and another gentleman was struck by a barrier when exiting a car park. Both sustained injuries and subsequently received monetary compensation.

These examples highlight the breadth of accidents that can be claimed against. So if you have been injured, regardless of the whereabouts or incident, you may be entitled to make a personal injury claim.
